For Mr and Mrs RV, their 2,700 sq ft strata-landed home at Jalan Lempeng needed to make an impression from the very first step inside. At the same time, it had to work effortlessly for a family of six, an active lifestyle and frequent gatherings with friends.
Working with Rezt+Relax interior designers Karen Lim and Nicky Haw, the family transformed their four-bedroom home into a modern luxury space that balances visual impact with practical everyday living.
A Home Designed for a Wow Factor
The brief was simple: create a home with wow factor.
That feeling begins in the main living area, where a layered ceiling, warm lighting and reflective finishes lead the eye towards the 50m pool and greenery beyond the home’s open frontage. The result is a bright, inviting space that feels connected to its surroundings.
The original layout did not make the most of this view. By flipping the living and dining zones, the dining area now overlooks the pool and landscaped grounds rather than nearby pillars and a power station. This change gives the communal spaces a more vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.
Open, Flexible and Ready for Guests
The family wanted a home that could adapt to their active daily routines and larger gatherings. The living room was intentionally kept open, with no coffee table, to create more room for exercise, family life and their husky.
A custom double-sided sofa helps define the living area without blocking circulation. Together with the dining area and patio, the layout creates one connected entertaining space. When hosting up to 30 guests, people can move comfortably between each zone.
Flexibility was built into the design through loose furniture and a mobile dining table. These pieces can be rearranged according to the occasion, whether the family is having a quiet night in or welcoming a full house.
Personal Details That Matter
The home also reflects the family’s beliefs and long-held traditions. A dedicated Guanyin altar was thoughtfully integrated into the main living space, rather than treated as a separate feature. The design respects its spiritual significance while allowing it to sit naturally within the home’s modern material palette and custom joinery.
Elsewhere, concealed doors and continuous timber-look panelling keep circulation areas calm and cohesive. The powder room continues the same sense of luxury with dark stone-look finishes, warm lighting and sculptural details.
Making Every Room Work Harder
The shared loft bedroom for the couple’s youngest son and daughter makes smart use of vertical space. Each sibling has a distinct sleeping zone, study area, wardrobe and storage, while custom carpentry keeps the compact room organised and comfortable.
The master bedroom takes a quieter approach. Upholstered wall panels, warm timber tones and integrated lighting create a restful retreat that contrasts with the drama of the main entertaining spaces.
