The space is softly illuminated by crystal chandeliers that give off an inviting glow, adding depth and elegance to the Victorian-inspired design. Crystal lighting has always been special to Chen — a symbol of dreams and aspiration that now brightens her family home. Today, chandeliers can be found not only in the living room but also in the kitchen, hallway, staircase, and walk-in wardrobe, tying together the home’s romantic aesthetic.

A Love for Victorian Elegance
The home’s overall design celebrates Victorian sophistication — rich in texture and detail, yet timeless in its appeal. Intricate wood carvings, floral patterns, and curved silhouettes create an atmosphere of grandeur without feeling overdone.
While travelling in Shanghai, Chen came across a furniture store offering exquisite American-brand Victorian pieces. Struck by their craftsmanship, she decided to ship them home. The carved sofa and dining chairs now anchor the living and dining spaces, adding authenticity and character to the overall décor.
Where the Heart of the Home Lives
Among all the rooms, Chen’s favourite remains the kitchen. It’s where she feels most connected to her family and heritage. Cooking is second nature to her — a habit formed from childhood days spent helping her mother prepare family meals. That same tradition continues as Chen often gathers her family around the kitchen, sharing recipes and laughter.
Festive occasions bring even more joy, especially when her mother joins her to prepare traditional dishes like rice dumplings during the Dragon Boat Festival. These simple yet heartfelt moments turn the kitchen into the emotional center of her home.
Dining, Connection, and Family
The dining room carries forward that same sense of intimacy. The family gathers here for everyday meals and special celebrations, enjoying Chen’s signature dishes — from braised pork buns to hearty cabbage rice and local favourites like laksa. Upstairs, Chen’s master bedroom combines elegance with sentimentality. Several furniture pieces, including the bed frame and antique-style dresser, have been with her since her wedding — a lasting reminder of her life’s journey. The adjoining bathroom carries a spa-inspired design, offering a calm and restorative space within the home.
Another bedroom has been transformed into a walk-in wardrobe, complete with a black-framed crystal chandelier and metallic handles that mirror its graceful lines. The pairing of black and crystal creates a balance between glamour and modern refinement.
